Split City : Valley-Area Teams Win 2 of 4 Championship Games

The Valley region earned a split in four high school football championships games played Friday. El Camino Real dominated Carson and won the City Section 3-A Division title, 42-0, in the first half of a doubleheader at the Coliseum. In the second game, San Pedro defeated Taft in the 4-A Division final for the second consecutive year, this time by a score of 24-9. In the Southern Section, Notre Dame also lost a final for the second year in a row. The Knights led by a point until Blake Bigelow kicked his fourth field goal of the game, from 28 yards out, with 19 seconds left to give Arroyo Grande the Division III title, 19-17. Paraclete came out on top in a two-point game, 8-6, over Banning in a Division XI contest. Quincy Wright of El Camino Real was the individual standout, rushing for 172 yards and four touchdowns.
