Joseph, Penberthy Carry Master’s

Jerome Joseph scored 22 points and Joey Penberthy had 17 to help The Master’s defeat Biola, 71-66, in a men’s basketball game on Saturday night at Master’s.

Master’s (9-4) held Biola (9-1), ranked No. 9 in the NAIA Division I, to 40.5% shooting and forced 18 turnovers.

Trade Tech 69, Valley 64-- Leon Brisport and Steve Eernisse each scored 18 points for Valley (9-4) in the title game of the Santa Barbara tournament.

Moopark 95, Santa Monica 89--Anthony McCurtis scored 22 points and Marcus Pena had 20 for Moorpark (5-3) in Western State Conference interdivison game.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

The Master’s 70, Cal Lutheran 63--Elizabeth Hansell had 18 points and 15 rebounds for Master’s (5-5) in a nonconference home game.

Missy Rider scored 13 points for the Regals (2-4).

Ventura 85, Valley 70--Amirah Leonard scored 23 points and the Pirates (12-1) won the Valley tournament for the fifth consecutive year.

Tanya McLaughlin had 18 points for Valley.

Pepperdine 72, CS Northridge 63--Samantha Rigley and Jenny Frank each scored 14 points for the Waves (7-2) in a nonconference game at Northridge (2-5).

Edniesha Curry scored 13 points for Northridge.
