SEASON AT A GLANCE: A three-year starter at tailback, the explosive Wright was at the top of his game in the City Section 3-A Division playoffs. He rushed for 268 yards in a 45-6 quarterfinal victory over Monroe and 261 in a 34-0 semifinal victory over Jefferson. He surpassed 200 yards rushing in four games.

WEEK AT A GLANCE: Wright helped the Conquistadores win their first section football title in a 43-0 victory over Carson in the 3-A final Friday at the Coliseum. Wright rushed for 172 yards in 26 carries and scored four touchdowns for the third consecutive game. Wright finished with 2,146 yards, second best in the City Section.

YEAR: Junior

SPORT: Basketball

SEASON AT A GLANCE: In the midst of being recruited by several colleges, the 6-foot-1 middle blocker helped the Highlanders to a fast start this season with a five-game upset of Harvard-Westlake. With Livingston in the middle, the Highlanders have a shot at upsetting Westlake in a Marmonte League match Sept. 25.

WEEK AT A GLANCE: Livingston, who is considering Washington, Ohio State, Penn State, Wisconsin and Oregon State, had 18 kills and seven blocks in the Highlanders’ victory over Harvard-Westlake. She also had 52 kills and 15 blocks in 11 games of the Westlake tournament, where the Highlanders advanced to the semifinals.

SEASON AT A GLANCE: Thomas, a 5-foot-5 shooting guard, has combined speed, quickness and experience to average 16.5 points and seven steals for the Huskies (6-0). With Thomas winning most valuable player, North Hollywood won the Washington tournament to establish itself among the top teams in the City Section.

WEEK AT A GLANCE: Thomas led North Hollywood, ranked fourth in the region by The Times, to two intersectional victories. She had 17 points and nine steals in a 72-34 rout over Westlake and 15 points and six steals in a 60-55 overtime victory over Harvard-Westlake, then ranked third in the region.
