Martin Likes Taylor’s Style

Guard Darrick Martin thinks the Clippers could use more aggressive players like rookie forward Maurice Taylor, who was ejected from Tuesday night’s loss to the Seattle SuperSonics for taunting Vin Baker.
“He’s a competitor,” Martin said. “You’d rather have a guy who’s not going to take anything from anybody and isn’t going to back down rather than somebody who’s complacent. That’s going to pay off in the long run, especially in a big man.
“He’ll learn. He probably won’t do that again.”

Coach Bill Fitch says guard James Robinson, shooting a career-low 29.6%, may have the toughest job on the team.
Robinson was signed to a $10.5-million, five-year contract to provide scoring off the bench.
“He’s a guy who sits on the bench for 40 minutes and then you bring him in for one shot,” Fitch said. “That’s a tough job to do, but somebody’s got to do it.
“He’s pulling that duty now, but down the line there will be other things for him to do.”
Robinson, who averaged 8.3 points and 1.3 assists with the Minnesota Timberwolves last season, has averaged 4.3 points and 1.7 assists this season.

Forward Rodney Rogers was not in the starting lineup for the second consecutive game because of a bruised right leg.
Rogers played eight scoreless minutes in the second quarter.

Warrior forward Donyell Marshall had to be helped off the court with 7:31 remaining in the first quarter after he collided with Martin while trying to block a shot. He injured his left hamstring.
