Mustangs Rally Late in Boys’ Soccer

Trabuco Hills scored two goals in the final three minutes of the game to defeat Villa Park, 2-1, in the first round of the Trabuco Hills boys’ soccer tournament Friday.

Kit Hager scored in the 78th minute and Andrew Mizell scored the game-winner off a rebound in the 80th minute for the Mustangs (4-3-1).

Villa Park (4-5) took the lead on Mark Escudero’s goal in the first half.

In other first-round games:

No. 1 Santa Margarita 6, La Habra 0--Tim Pierce scored two goals, his eighth and ninth of the season, for Santa Margarita. Corey Collins also had two goals for the Eagles (6-0-2).

Goalie Bryon Foss had one save and combined with Chris Porcelli (two saves) for the shutout.

La Habra is 2-2-3.

No. 2 Woodbridge 4, Argyle (Canada) 0--Saul Wolfe’s penalty kick at 15 minutes proved the difference for Woodbridge (8-0-3), which led 2-0 at halftime.

Diamond Bar 3, Sunny Hills 2--David Adams, Charlie Hee and Brian Phillips each scored a goal in the second half as Diamond Bar overcame a 2-0 deficit. Kiley Wilson scored for Sunny Hills in the first half.

El Toro 1, Mission Viejo 0--Mike Boyd recorded five saves to earn the shutout for El Toro. Julian Gaitan scored the winner for the Chargers.

In the Ocean View girls’ soccer tournament:

No. 5 Mater Dei 8, Redondo Beach Redondo Union 1--Alison Fennell scored three goals, giving her five in the last two games, and Erin Goletz had two for Mater Dei (6-0-1) in the first-round game.

Huntington Beach 2, Pacifica 0--The Oilers (4-5), who lost to the Mariners in the first round of the Irvine tournament three weeks ago, won this time, as goalkeeper Blyth Curran made eight saves in a first-round game at Golden West. Pacifica drops to 5-4.

Kendra Brissey and Teresa Tocco scored for Huntington Beach.

Sunny Hills 3, Aliso Niguel 1--Lonni Bishop scored two goals and Michelle Deshields had one for Sunny Hills (3-3-1).
