Also, goalkeeper Jorge Campos was selected as a reserve for the Western Conference in the July 9 MLS All-Star game. Teammate Mauricio Cienfuegos will start that game. Striker Eduardo Hurtado will miss tonight’s game to play in Ecuador’s World Cup qualifying match against Venezuela on Sunday. The traditional July 4 Rose Bowl fireworks show follows tonight’s game.

Revolution update--New England beat the Galaxy, 1-0, in a shootout June 8 at Foxboro (Mass.) Stadium in what had to be the dullest MLS game of the season. The loss prompted the firing of Lothar Osiander as Galaxy coach. After finishing 15-17 and failing to make the playoffs in 1996, the Revolution has started fast in ’97 under New Coach Thomas Rongen and is in second place in the Eastern Conference, seven points behind defending MLS champion Washington D.C. United.
