CISL ALL-STAR GAME

Share

Where--Arco Arena, Sacramento, at 7 tonight

Eastern Division--In a surprise development, three Dallas starters were no-shows at Monday’s skills competition, and are not expected to appear in tonight’s game. Replacing Tatu, midfielder David Doyle and goalkeeper Antonio Cortes, are Houston’s David Banks, Monterrey’s Marco Lopez and Houston goalkeeper Terry Waldorf.

Houston’s Paul Dougherty and Monterrey’s Genoni Martinez are the league’s third- and fourth-leading scorers. Houston’s Beto and Indiana defender Mariano Bollella are expected to play.

Western Division--Perhaps no one will appreciate the offensive nature of all-star games as much as the Splash’s Bernie Lilavois and player/coach Dale Ervine, whose concentration on Ervine’s end-to-end defensive philosophy has affected the team’s offensive production. Still, Lilavois (14 goals, six assists) is among the league’s leading scorers, and Ervine (seven goals, six assists) is 21st all-time in indoor soccer. Splash defender Doug Neely will start, along with Seattle goalkeeper Juan De La O, defender Dick McCormick, and forward John Olu Molomo, and Sacramento’s Iain Fraser and forward Jon Parry (18 goals, nine assists), the West’s leading scorer.
