Granada Hills Zeros In on Perfect Season

Singles players Jasmine Dao and Michelle Heiser won by 8-0 scores and Granada Hills High capped a second consecutive undefeated regular season with a 7-0 victory over Kennedy in a Northwest Valley Conference match Tuesday at Granada Hills.

Granada Hills (12-0, 9-0 in league play), a City Section 4-A semifinalist last season, has posted a 26-1 record the past two seasons.

Taft 4, El Camino Real 3--Sarah Baddin’s 8-0 defeat of Jessica Ohana denied the Conquistadores a singles sweep and keyed the Toreadors’ victory in a Northwest Valley Conference match at Taft.

The Toreadors (7-4, 5-3) swept the doubles behind the play of their No. 1 team, Marta Gajewski and Linda Tran, who defeated Nazli Alimi and Tina Nili, 8-3.

Van Nuys 7, Sylmar 0--Leslie Musser and Diana Friedland won by 8-0 scores in singles and the No. 3 doubles team of Debbie Chang and Tina Trinh blanked their opponents, allowing the Wolves (12-1, 8-0) to post their 11th consecutive victory in a Northwest Valley Conference match at Van Nuys.

Harvard-Westlake 15, Louisville 3--Lindsy Forbess didn’t lose a game in her three sets for the Wolverines in a Mission League match. Freshman Stephanie Berg lost two games in sweeping her three sets for Harvard-Westlake.

Chaminade 15, Notre Dame 3--The No. 2 doubles team of Tina Kapadia and Summer Valdes dropped only one game in three sets for the Eagles (12-5, 10-3) in a Mission League match at Northridge Tennis Club.

Simi Valley 17, Channel Islands 1--Mindy Gondrez, Stella Chu and Katie Franklin lost a combined total of two games in nine sets for the Pioneers (17-1, 12-1) in a Marmonte League match at Simi Valley.

Camarillo 11, Thousand Oaks 7--The Scorpions (15-2, 12-1), with a three-set sweep by Alison Gottlieb and Michelle Alvarez, won six of nine doubles sets in a Marmonte League match at Camarillo.

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

La Canada d. San Marino, 15-11, 15-7, 15-8--Emily Dalbeck delivered 13 kills for the Spartans (14-1, 9-0) in a Rio Hondo League match at San Marino and set a new school season record with 243 kills.

Brentwood d. Campbell Hall, 5-15, 15-8, 12-15, 15-13, 15-12--The Vikings (9-5, 5-3) held a five-point lead midway through the fourth game but let it and the Delphic League title slip away to the Eagles at Campbell Hall.

L.A. Baptist d. Marshall, 15-1, 15-2, 15-0--Tricia Stanton had seven kills and Anna Kartiala had seven aces for the Knights (13-2, 8-0) in an Alpha League match at Pasadena High.

La Reina d. Oak Park, 15-2, 15-7, 15-8--The Regents (15-1, 8-1) clinched a share of the Tri-Valley League title at Oak Park.

Flintridge Sacred Heart d. Alemany, 15-11, 15-6, 15-13--Megan Hosp had 20 kills and 18 digs for the Tologs (12-2, 8-1) in a Mission League match.
