Northridge Women Lose in Exhibition

Edniesha Curry and Tannea Nelson each scored 13 points for Cal State Northridge, but the Matador women’s basketball team fell, 70-63, to the Kilsyth Cobras on Tuesday in an exhibition game at Northridge.

Tammie Mills added eight points, six steals and four assists off the bench for the Matadors, who open the regular season Friday night against Texas Arlington.

The game featured 56 turnovers--30 by the Cobras, an all-star team from Victoria, Australia.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

The Master’s 120, Life Bible 37--Brian Wilson scored 22 points and Jerome Joseph and Chad Bell each had 19 points for the Mustangs in a season-opening nonconference game at The Master’s.

MEN’S SOCCER

Moorpark 11, Oxnard 1--Pat Russo scored four goals and Bobby Arthur had two assists for the Raiders (8-7-2, 2-5-1) in a Western State Conference game at Moorpark.

Juan Amezcua and Juan Barron each scored twice and goalkeeper Justin Hanover converted a penalty kick for Moorpark, which snapped a five-game losing streak.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

Ventura 9, Glendale 1--Krista Janik scored three goals in a WSC game at Ventura.

Janik has 24 goals this season for Ventura (20-2-2, 13-0-2).

Moorpark 2, Hancock 1--Angie Vicari scored a goal and had an assist for the Raiders (12-6-2, 10-3-2) in a WSC game at Moorpark.

GIRLS’ TENNIS

Marmonte League finals--Brooke Borisoff of Agoura defeated Lyndsey Tadlock of Thousand Oaks, 6-3, 6-0, to win the singles title at Agoura High.

Margo O’Donnell and Rebecca Hunau of Simi Valley rallied from a 5-2 deficit in the first set to defeat Bettina Rettenmaier and Lauren Gaona of Camarillo, 7-5, 6-3, in the doubles final.

Glendale 16, Lancaster 2--Julie Choi swept her sets at No. 1 singles without losing a game for the Dynamiters (12-6) in a Southern Section Division I wild-card match.
