DeShaun Foster added two county scoring records to his list of accolades Friday as Tustin defeated Westminster, 34-14, in a Golden West League finale at Westminster.

The victory gave the third-ranked Tillers (10-0, 5-0) their first Golden West League title.

Foster had 15 carries for 136 yards and three touchdowns. He has 43 touchdowns this season, breaking the record of 42 set by Laguna Hills’ Brendan McGraw in 1994. Foster has also scored 260 points, surpassing McGraw’s record of 252, also set in ’94.

Foster’s 39 rushing touchdowns moved him into second place behind McGraw, who had 41. Foster also moves into fourth on the county’s single-season rushing list with 2,355 yards. He’s seventh in career rushing with 4,765 yards.

Foster got Tustin on the board first with a 48-yard touchdown run with 4:48 left in the first quarter. But defensive mistakes nearly proved costly for the Tillers. Westminster’s Dan Padron got behind the secondary by more than 10 yards, but Elijah McCarthy overthrew him and the Lions (4-6, 3-2) were forced to punt.

Tustin took a 14-0 lead into halftime after Foster scored on a 22-yard run with 1:10 left.

Branden Malcom scored on a six-yard run to give Tustin a 21-0 lead. Westminster followed with a 70-yard touchdown run by Erick Arthur in the third quarter.

That prompted Foster’s return to the lineup and he delivered an 11-yard touchdown run that gave Tustin a 28-7 lead with 3:33 left in the third quarter.

Westminster held the Tillers, who averaged 51 points per game, to their lowest offensive total of the season.
