CISL Team Reaches Indoor Final

CISL America advanced to the gold medal match of the World Championship of Indoor Soccer by beating Uruguay, 9-3, Friday in Mexico City.

The U.S. team will play Mexico for the title at 7 p.m. Sunday. Mexico defeated Brazil in Friday’s other semifinal, 6-5, on a goal by Alejandro Moreno (Indianapolis) in the last minute of regulation.

Representing the Splash on the U.S. team are Doug Neely (Canyon High, Chapman) and Thor Lee, who each had one assist Friday, and Raffaele Ruotolo, who had a goal and had an assist.

Mirko Castillo (Indianapolis) led all scorers with three goals, and midfielder Tom Bialek (Seattle) and forward Ben Erickson (Portland) each scored twice.
