Owens Might Play for Hart Despite Broken Left Big Toe
Wide receiver Jerry Owens of Hart High had X-rays on his left big toe Saturday, which confirmed the toe is broken.
Owens was injured in the second quarter of the Indians’ 42-20 victory over Torrance on Friday night in the first round of the Southern Section Division II playoffs.
Doctors diagnosed a class-3 turf toe with a minor break, said Paul Sibek, Owens’ stepfather.
Owens will be on crutches this week, but still might play Friday night against Palmdale.
“The doctor said it can’t get any worse,” Sibek said. “So if he can handle the pain, he will play.”
