NEW HAVEN FOOTBALL

* County connection: Adam Roman of Laguna Hills, who transferred from Saddleback College.

* Worth noting: Roman has been a versatile player for New Haven (10-1), which defeated Glenville State, 47-7, Saturday in the first round of the Division II playoffs. Roman leads the team with 59 catches for 796 yards. He also returns punts and kickoffs.

STANFORD WATER POLO

* County connections: Thad Buzolich of Corona del Mar, Brian Heifferon of Servite, David Hay of Foothill, Crosby Grant of Corona del Mar and Kendall Benson of El Dorado.

* Worth noting: Heifferon, a sophomore, and Hay, a junior, are the top two scorers for the second-ranked Cardinal. Heifferon has 32 points and Hay has 30. Grant is the fourth-leading scorer with 21. Benson, The Times Orange County player of the year in 1996 after leading El Dorado to a section title, has five points and is the only freshman to score for Stanford this season.

UCLA MEN’S SOCCER

* County connections: Starting goalkeeper Matt Reis of Santa Margarita, starting defender Kevin Coye of Ocean View, starting midfielder Josh Keller of Santa Margarita, starting striker Seth George of Santa Margarita and defender Danny Sparks of Santa Margarita.

* Worth noting: George scored a goal in UCLA’s 3-0 victory over Santa Clara Sunday in the Division I tournament at Westwood.
