Los Amigos running back Najja Kee led the offense, and linebacker Anthony Faletoi directed the defense as the Lobos overwhelmed Santiago, 38-11, in the Garden Grove League opener for both teams Friday night at Garden Grove High.

Kee rushed 10 times for 110 yards and scored three touchdowns. Faletoi sacked Saniago quarterback Jason Thomas three times and blocked a punt.

Trailing 3-0 early in the first quarter, the Lobos (3-0-1, 1-0) drove 75 yards on six plays. The key to the drive was a 39-yard run by Kee. On the next play, Kee ran it in from the Santiago eight to put the Lobos ahead, 7-3.

Los Amigos extended its lead late in the second quarter. Lobos quarterback Javier Acevez drove his team quickly down the field. Acevez completed passes of eight and 40 yards to wide receiver Enrique Arroyo, and 18 yards to running back Levertis Riley. That put the ball on the two, and Kee ran it in from there.

On the first play of Santiago’s (1-3, 0-1) next drive, Thomas was intercepted by defensive end Keri Niumata, who ran 28 yards for the touchdown. In just over 30 seconds, the Lobos lead grew to 21-3.

The Lobos held the Cavaliers to 36 yards in total offense.
