SANTA PAULA — A fight near an elementary school left a man with gunshot wounds to both legs and a woman with a head wound from being hit with a chair, authorities said Saturday.
The fight broke out about 11:30 p.m. Friday during a party in the 100 block of South Ojai Street when several gang members began fighting with party-goers, according to Santa Paula police officials. The house is near Grace E. Thille Elementary School.
Arriving officers found Richard Romero Lopez Jr. had been shot in the legs.
A second victim, Irma Lopez, 38, was bleeding from a large cut on the forehead, suffered when she was hit by a chair that someone had thrown, authorities said.
The injuries were described by authorities as minor, and both victims were treated and released.
