A swift-moving grass fire burned 15 to 20 acres of land adjacent to Ernest E. Debs Regional Park in Montecito Heights on Monday evening, scorching a swath of brush near the Avenue 52 exit of the Pasadena Freeway.
No structures or people were threatened by the fire, which was extinguished within two hours, said Los Angeles City Fire Department spokesman Bob Collis, who added that no buildings were located near the blaze.
Collis said the Fire Department did not immediately know how the fire, which began shortly after 6 p.m., ignited. About 75 firefighters and two helicopters were dispatched to the scene.
