NORTHRIDGE — A 45-year-old woman was found dead in her backyard swimming pool Thursday night after she had been swimming with her husband and daughter earlier in the evening, authorities said.
The woman’s 9-year-old daughter discovered the body shortly before 8:30 p.m. in the backyard pool of a house in the 18100 block of Acre Street. The woman had apparently been in the pool alone for 30 minutes while her daughter and husband were in the house.
As her father dove in to rescue the woman, the girl called 911, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey.
With instructions from a 911 dispatcher, the man tried to save his wife using CPR until help arrived.
Firefighters were unable to save the woman, Humphrey said.
The woman’s name was not immediately available.
