Santa Monica 28, Glendale 7--The Vaqueros (0-1, 0-1) had the ball in Santa Monica territory five times in the second half, but scored only once in a Western State Conference inter-division game at Santa Monica.

Glendale’s touchdown came on an eight-yard run by Darrell Durham that made the score 21-7 midway through the fourth quarter.

But the Corsairs (1-0, 1-0) put the game away with a 92-yard scoring drive that culminated with a three-yard touchdown run by Nickey Gates with 1:49 remaining.

Glendale trailed, 14-0, at the half, and had only 25 yards in offense at that point.

John Carnevali completed 15 of 42 passes for 174 yards, most of them coming in the fourth quarter.

Santa Monica’s Dylen Smith completed 19 of 31 for 214 yards and two touchdowns to spark a 406-yard attack for the Corsairs.

Durham finished with 76 yards in 11 carries.
