Los Amigos’ Big Second Half Overwhelms Valencia, 29-14

Los Amigos Coach Roger Takahashi called it a snowball effect in the second half, as his Lobos scored 29 consecutive points to come from behind and defeat Valencia, 29-14, in a nonleague game Friday night at Valencia.

Los Amigos (1-0-1), which was held to 84 yards and four first downs in the first half, collected 230 yards in offense and 13 first downs in the second.

Running backs Levertis Riley and Najja Kee accounted for 85 and 97 yards, respectively, and scored the four Lobo touchdowns in the second half.

Riley scored the first touchdown on a nine-yard run with 20 seconds remaining in the third quarter. After a successful two-point conversion and recovering an onside kick, the Lobos took the lead for good on a seven-yard scoring run by Kee early in the fourth quarter.

“I am so proud of our team. They didn’t lose their poise and executed the offense at a higher level in the second half,” Takahashi said.

Riley completed the Lobos’ scoring spurt with touchdown runs of 15 and 23 yards. Valencia (0-1-1) was in control of the game in the second quarter, holding the ball for 16 1/2 minutes and recording 12 first downs. Quarterback Jason Annis completed a 15-yard touchdown pass to tight end Matt Randolph midway through the second quarter. Then Annis gave the Tigers its 14-point halftime lead with a one-yard quarterback sneak.
