Garden Grove stopped two late drives by Ocean View and defeated the Seahawks, 13-10, Friday night at Westminster High School.

The Argonauts got an interception at their seven-yard line, then forced an incompletion on fourth and 18 at their 45-yard line with 48 seconds remaining in the game.

“It took a lot of heart for the defense to hold up two or three times in a row,” Garden Grove Coach Kris Van Hook said.

The Argonauts’ Jerry Coleman rushed for 147 yards and one touchdown. Coleman was not eligible for last week’s opener because he didn’t have enough practices.

The Argonauts (1-1) took the lead in the third quarter when wide receiver Matt Revelle took a delayed hand off 46 yards for a touchdown. The play capped a three-play, 52-yard drive.

The Seahawks (0-2) had a 10-7 halftime lead after Scott McMahan connected on a 30-yard field goal. McMahan threw for 170 yards and one touchdown for the Seahawks, including 76-yard touchdown pass to running back Matt Trice in the first quarter, that gave the Seahawks a 7-0 lead.
