Report: Sakic Top-Paid Player
Associated Press
Joe Sakic’s $17-million salary makes the Colorado Avalanche center the highest-paid player in the NHL this season, the Toronto Star reported.
The Avalanche was forced to give Sakic, who made $3.1 million last season, a three-year, $21-million deal after the New York Rangers signed him to an offer sheet for that amount.
The contract pays Sakic $2 million a year plus a $15-million signing bonus for this season.
