LAUGH FACTORY
Why are these people smiling? It certainly isn’t because they’re promoting the No. 1 hit comedy in the nation. Laurence Fishburne and Sam Neill, top right, found time to identify one another at the premiere of “Event Horizon,” a sci-fi splatter film that fulfills an entire year’s quotient for blood and gore. Those five guys bonding in merriment (above, from left, Tony Danza, Ossie Davis, William Petersen, Jack Lemon and Edward James Olmos) just happen to be five of the “12 Angry Men” gathered to celebrate Showtime’s remake of the classic film that depicts a day in the life of jurors fighting their way toward a verdict in a murder case. Even Gary Sinise and Mare Winningham, top left, look beatific at the premiere of their TNT Film “George Wallace,” which spotlights the politician who was once the poster boy for contemporary Southern racism. We can only assume that the glow of Tinseltown inspired the grins.
