Firefighters Battle 3 Blazes in San Bernardino County
Three wildfires had burned nearly 900 acres of dry brush Monday evening in San Bernardino County, authorities said.
The biggest blaze, at more than 500 acres, burned near Yucaipa. About 350 acres were scorched near California 330 and City Creek, and a 20-acre fire had charred brush near Running Springs.
No injuries were reported and the cause of all the fires remained under investigation, officials said.
About 300 firefighters battled the blaze near Yucaipa, using five air tankers, three helicopters and two bulldozers, according to the California Department of Forestry.
That fire, which began about 1 p.m. on the hilly terrain, destroyed two sheds, but the flames were burning away from residences.
The blaze near California 330 was reported at 1:48 p.m. No structures were immediately threatened, but the fire jumped the highway and was burning northeast toward the San Bernardino Mountains community of Running Springs, authorities said.
About 200 firefighters, eight air tankers and four helicopters fought those flames.
The third fire had burned about five acres in an area that burned last week near Running Springs.
