Brendan McGraw
Saddleback, Sophomore
Football/Running Back
McGraw, from Laguna Hills High, learned that he needed to be stronger to be more effective his first year at Saddleback. So he worked hard and the results were evident Saturday. He gained 142 yards in 32 carries and scored a touchdown as the Gauchos beat El Camino, 24-21, in overtime. Both his yardage and carries were highs for McGraw at Saddleback.

* Saddleback, freshman. Won the Orange Empire Conference preview run in 20 minutes 59 seconds.

Lisa Saenz
Golden West, Sophomore
Water Polo
Saenz, from Marina High, is a major reason Golden West is the top-ranked team in the state. Saenz led the Rustlers in scoring last season and again this year. She scored eight of the team’s 10 goals as Golden West beat second-ranked Grossmont, 10-5, in the championship game of the Mt. San Antonio tournament Saturday. She has 44 points this season.

* Orange Coast, sophomore. Won the Orange Empire Conference preview run in a time of 19:06.
