Cleveland Breaks Through For First Win

Quarterback Larry Brown and running back Terrence Young combined to lead Cleveland High to its first victory, as the Cavaliers pounded Fairfax, 33-0, in a nonconference game Friday night at Cleveland.

Young rushed 13 times for 133 yards and scored Cleveland’s first two touchdowns on second-quarter runs of 64 and three yards.

Brown, who carried seven times for 29 yards and completed six of 11 passes for 147 yards with one interception, scored on a 10-yard run in the third quarter and connected with Brown for a 35-yard touchdown with 10:21 to play. Young finished with two receptions for 66 yards.

Brown rushed for a two-point conversion after Young’s second touchdown, and Young rushed for a two-point conversion after Brown’s touchdown.

Cleveland (1-2) finished with 438 yards while holding the Lions (0-3) to 110 yards.

The Cavaliers forced five fumbles, recovering two. They also intercepted two passes thrown by Fairfax quarterback Hiram Fernandez and sacked him three times.

Young ended the first half by intercepting a pass by Fernandez. Sean Covington had one sack, and assisted on two others.
