Louisville Coach Investigated for Outbursts
Louisville Coach Ron Cooper is the target of an internal investigation by the school over allegations of angry outbursts toward university staff.
University President John Shumaker said that the investigation is being completed and he plans to release details later this week.

The Texas Longhorns probably lost three key starters, wide receiver Wane McGarity, nose guard Chris Akins and defensive tackle Casey Hampton, for the season because of knee injuries.
“I think Wane and Casey are probably out for the season,” Coach John Mackovic said in Austin. “If Chris comes back at all, it would be extremely late in the season.”

Ohio State freshman wide receiver Ken-Yon Rambo pleaded innocent to misdemeanor charges of drug abuse, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest in Columbus, Ohio. A trial date was not set. . . . Frank D’Agostino, an All-America tackle for Auburn in 1955, died of a heart attack in Tampa, Fla. He was 61.
