Former Harvard-Westlake players Tom Dowd and Jim Citron also play for Princeton (17-7).

Letter-perfect: The letters of intent have rolled in, leaving Jeff Campbell free to speak his mind.

Campbell, men’s volleyball coach at Cal State Northridge, has had to bite his tongue about his recruiting class because a coach cannot comment until a player’s signed letter of intent has been received by the school.

Joe Nargi, a 6-6 1/2 opposite hitter at Taft High, Steve Russell, a 6-7 opposite hitter at Royal and Jeff Toon, a 6-6 middle blocker at Kennedy, are signed and sealed, allowing Campbell to deliver.

“This is the best recruiting class that we’ve ever had at Northridge,” said Campbell, who recently completed his first season as Northridge coach after seven years as an assistant.

“Under normal circumstances, if you go after 10 guys, it would be nice to get three or four. But we got everyone [we recruited]. We got them all. I think they’re not only the three best players in the Valley, but Nargi and Russell are two of the top players in Southern California. And there aren’t a whole lot of coaches that know about [Toon], but he hits the ball as hard as anybody. He’s kind of a dark horse, a sleeper.”

Northridge also signed 6-4 outside hitter Brad Astin of Clovis West High and 6-5 opposite Stephen Wiessner of Pierce College and Chatsworth High.
