Green Makes Westlake Blue

Brittney Green (9-1) pitched a four-hitter, struck out four and walked one to help Simi Valley High defeat Westlake, 4-1, in a Marmonte League softball game Monday at Westlake.

Tracie Hall had two hits, drove in two runs and scored twice for the Pioneers (18-2, 6-2 in league play), ranked No. 1 in the region by The Times. Lori Tande had two hits and scored twice for Simi Valley.

Erin Voeltz (8-8) threw a five-hitter and struck out eight for Westlake (8-9, 3-5), but she walked four.

In other softball games:

Quartz Hill 5, Saugus 4--Sara Moore singled with two out in the eighth inning to drive in Kellie Cox with the winning run in a nonleague game at Saugus.

Moore had three hits and Penny Wood and Jamie Booth each had two for Quartz Hill (15-2-1), ranked No. 3 in the region.

Julie Watson singled three times and Sandy Volk added two hits for Saugus (12-8).

Alemany 5, Flintridge Sacred Heart 0--Kim Diener (15-6) threw a four-hitter, struck out six and posted her eighth shutout in a Mission League game at the Sylmar Independent Little League complex.

Annalisa Allen had two hits and three runs batted in for Alemany (15-6, 3-1). Allen’s two-run double keyed a four-run fifth inning.

Louisville 3, Harvard-Westlake 2--Mariel Garcia scored the winning run from second base on a single by Christina Jordt in the eighth inning of a Mission League game at Louisville (8-7, 2-1).

Jemma Santos of Louisville forced the extra inning with a leadoff home run in the seventh.

Sandra Aken’s sixth-inning home run gave Harvard-Westlake (9-11, 1-3) a 2-1 lead.

HIGH SCHOOL GOLF

Alemany’s Krystal Shearer shot 76 and finished tied for seventh place out of 119 in the Southern Section girls’ individual championships at Mission Lakes in Desert Hot Springs. Notre Dame’s Anne Lee shot 77 and tied for 10th. Harvard Westlake’s Ina Kim shot 81. Alexis Arnold of Hart shot 85, missing by one stroke the cut for the SCGA finals on June 2.

Hart 327, Alemany 341--Charlie Smith and Ryan Wyman each shot three-over-par 64s for host Hart (19-1-1) in a nonleague match at Vista Valencia Golf Course. Smith toured the first half of the course at par but had three bogeys on the back nine.

BOYS’ TENNIS

Calabasas 12, Nordhoff 6--Calabasas’ No. 1 doubles team of Brad Gold and Jeremy Elbaum swept their sets for host Calabasas (13-4, 5-0) in a Frontier League match.
