Promotion for Parker Is A-OK

Catcher Chris Parker (Westlake High) has been promoted from the Detroit Tigers’ rookie league team to Class-A Lakeland in the Florida State League.

Parker was batting .257 with three home runs in 24 games with the Tigers. He is batting .214 through his first three games with Lakeland.

Class A--Eric Cole (Antelope Valley High, Antelope Valley College) had four hits, drove in five runs and stole two bases in Quad Cites’ 14-12 victory over Burlington. Fernando Rios (Glendale High) had two hits and scored two runs for Burlington. . . . Dennis Konrady (Pepperdine) hit three singles and drove in a run for Kingston in a 5-1 victory over Prince William. . . . Darrell Dent (Montclair Prep) had two hits and drove in two runs in Frederick’s 12-5 victory loss to Wilmington.

Rookie--Ryan Hankins (Simi Valley) hit two home runs and drove in four runs but Bristol lost to Princeton, 7-6, in the first game of a doubleheader. . . . Darrell Hussman (Quartz Hill) picked up his first save in his second professional appearance for Billings in a 2-1 victory over Lethbridge. . . . Barry Tolli (Newbury Park) had two hits and drove in two runs in the Tigers’ 4-3 victory over the Yankees. . . . Victor Hall (Monroe) had two hits and drove in two runs for the Diamondbacks in a 10-9 victory over the White Sox.
