Brea Olinda Defeats Servite for Soccer Tournament Title

Josh Alexander scored a goal and had an assist as Brea Olinda beat Servite, 2-1, in the title game of the Brea Olinda boys’ soccer tournament Saturday.

Alexander scored early in the first half to give Brea Olinda a 1-0 lead, then Trevor Bermudez scored on a header off a cross from Alexander as the Wildcats took a 2-0 first-half lead.

Brent Fielder scored with seven minutes left in the game for Servite (8-2-1), which has lost twice to Brea this season.

In the Royal soccer tournament:

Santa Margarita 3, Antelope Valley 0--Spencer George scored the first two goals of the game and his second and third of the tournament for Santa Margarita (5-2-2).

In the Torrey Pines tournament:

San Clemente 1, Rancho Buena Vista 0--Nick Kensinger scored for the Tritons (4-1-1), who earlier tied West Hills, 1-1.

In the South Torrance girls’ soccer tournament:

Edison 2, Mira Costa 2 (Edison wins on penalty kicks, 5-4)--Brooke Thulin scored on Edison’s last penalty kick and Alison Binder made a save to seal Edison’s third-place finish. Erin Novak’s goal tied the score for the Chargers (6-2-1).

In the San Clemente girls’ water polo tournament:

Villa Park 12, San Clemente 3--The second-ranked Spartans (11-0) were led by five goals from Kristyn Pulver and three by Danee French in the title game.

In the Big Bear wrestling invitational:

Foothill wins--Ben Balmages (135 pounds) and Jimmy Gominsky (160) were tournament most valuable wrestlers as Foothill placed first with 214.5 points. Foothill’s Shane Oliver (145) and David Liti (275) also won individual championships.

Charter Oak (210 points) finished second followed by West Hills (124.5).
