In a year targeted for finding ways to ease congestion downtown, four appointments to the Traffic Commission will be made Monday.

Members of the five-person panel advise the council on transportation issues. Terms expire Dec. 31, 2000.

“We have a list of candidates we have interviewed and we will consider each of them,” Mayor Ronald Bates said.

Council members also will decide whether to dispose of surplus office equipment or offer it to the Los Alamitos Unified School District.

They also will consider a resolution to encourage the Orange County Board of Supervisors to buy upgraded fingerprint identification technology for the Sheriff’s Department.

This is in support of a resolution by the League of California Cities, which Bates heads as president.

“It makes a tremendous difference in apprehending suspects,” he said.

The council meets at 7 p.m. in City Hall, 3191 Katella Ave. Information: (562) 431-3538 or (714) 827-8670.
