In another Pacific Coast League girls’ soccer game:

Costa Mesa 4, Estancia 0--Fernanda Velasco’s goal 30 minutes into the first half was the difference for Costa Mesa. The Mustangs are 8-3-3, 1-1.

In the Century League:

No. 8 Canyon 4, Santa Ana Valley 2--Rachelle Locke scored three goals for Canyon. The Comanches (10-5, 2-0) led at halftime, 3-1. Sharmaine Kendrick had 19 saves for Santa Ana Valley (6-2-3, 0-2).

In the Empire League:

Cypress 1, Kennedy 1--Hillary Poan scored 10 minutes into the second half to tie the score for Kennedy (8-3-3, 1-0-1). Cypress is 6-4-1, 1-0-1.

In the Freeway League:

Sunny Hills 3, La Habra 1--Freshman Simi Phull scored three goals for Sunny Hills (8-7-1, 2-0) in the second half. Kim Patterson gave La Habra a 1-0 lead 10 minutes into the second half. Sunny Hills is 8-7-1, 2-0.

In the Sea View League:

No. 7 Santa Margarita 2, Newport Harbor 1--After a scoreless first half, Jenny Anderson and Sara Henderson each scored for Santa Margarita (6-4-2, 2-0). Jenny Orr scored the only goal for Newport Harbor (0-2 in league). Erin Regan had seven saves in the goal for the Eagles and Jordan Fredrikson had eight for the Sailors.

Woodbridge 3, No. 9 El Toro 0--Laura Green scored the first two goals, the second coming on a penalty kick, and Katie Ogden had the other for Woodbridge (7-4-2, 1-0-1). Goalkeeper Sandra Martinez stopped 10 shots for the Warriors.

In the South Coast League:

No. 3 Mission Viejo 6, No. 6 Mater Dei 2--Erin Lowery scored two goals for Mission Viejo, which handed Mater Dei its second straight defeat in league play. Kendal Billingsly added two goals and two assists for the Diablos (11-3-1, 2-0), who led at halftime, 2-1. The Monarchs are 9-2-1, 0-2.

In the Sunset League:

No. 2 Edison 2, No. 5 Esperanza 0--Yvonne Pierson’s goal 19 minutes into the first was all the offense Edison would need. Erin Novak added the final goal for the Chargers (12-0-2, 2-0) in the last minute of the game. Esperanza is 9-4-2, 0-2.

Fountain Valley 2, No. 4 Los Alamitos 1--Amber Miller of Fountain Valley scored two goals in the first half in the upset. Goalie Erin Bottis had eight saves for the Barons (7-5-3, 1-0-1).

Sara Kovach scored for Los Alamitos (5-1-4, 1-1).

Huntington Beach 3, Marina 3 (OT)--Kendra Aston scored a goal with two minutes remaining in the first half of overtime to tie the score, 3-3, for Huntington Beach. Goalie Blythe Curran had one save for the Oilers (5-6-2, 0-1-1).

In Academy League boys’ basketball:

St. Margaret’s 63, Fairmont 28--Brian Sternberg had 10 points, 10 rebounds and 10 steals for St. Margaret’s (5-9, 1-1).

In Garden Grove League wrestling:

Santiago 67, Rancho Alamitos 12--Junior Daniel Melendez, ranked second in the 215-pound class, pinned his opponent in 3:31 for Santiago (16-5, 1-1). Freshman Chris Agbunag (103) also won by a fall in 39 seconds.
