Willie Allen hit a running scoop shot in the lane with 0.3 seconds left in overtime Wednesday night to give Loyola Marymount an 81-79 upset of Pepperdine in a West Coast Conference game before 1,422 at Firestone Fieldhouse in Malibu.

After forcing a five-second violation against Pepperdine’s Jelani Gardner with five seconds left, Allen put the moves on Gardner again by driving past him for the winning basket.

The Lions (5-12, 1-4 in the WCC) ended a 14-game road losing streak that started after they won at Pepperdine last season.

Behind forward Ben Ammerman, who scored 30 points on nine-for-12 shooting, Loyola led most of the game. The Lions went ahead, 64-56, on Ammerman’s third and final three-point basket with 8:15 left in regulation.

The Waves (10-7, 2-3) rallied and took the lead, 73-70, when Tommie Prince hit a three-point basket with 1:40 left. The teams traded misses before Loyola’s Tim Kennedy tied the score on a three-pointer with 34 seconds left.
