A 34-year-old woman who was critically wounded by a gunman at an Irvine warehouse earlier this month died Wednesday at Western Medical Center-Santa Ana.

Teresa Guevara of Rancho Santa Margarita was shot twice Jan. 10 after startling an intruder as he tried to sexually assault a co-worker at a printing shop.

Guevara, who had been on life support since the shooting, died about 2:15 a.m. Wednesday.

Police released a composite sketch of the suspect but have not made an arrest in the case, Sgt. Al Murray said. Detectives are looking into the possibility that the same man is responsible for a rape that occurred at a Fountain Valley office building earlier this week, Murray said.

“We hope that people will recognize the urgency in this case now that it is a homicide,” Murray said. “No matter how little or insignificant the information may seem, we want to hear from anybody who has seen something or knows anything about this guy.”

The suspect is described as black, in his mid-20s, about 5 feet 9 inches tall with a medium build. He was seen leaving the Irvine crime scene in a dark, late-model Nissan Altima, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Irvine Police Department at (714) 724-1812.
