Westlake Upsets Simi Valley, 48-43

Two Westlake High starters did not score, but the Warriors upset Simi Valley, 48-43, Friday night in a Marmonte League girls’ basketball game at Simi Valley.

Tawny Thorp had 18 points and Lottie Kanama scored 16 for Westlake (10-10, 3-7 in league play).

Elise Metcalf led Simi Valley (11-9, 5-5) with 17 points and seven rebounds.

In another Marmonte League game:

Royal 53, Agoura 31--Royal (20-2, 9-1) never trailed and used 15 players in a rout at Agoura. Alicia Weber, Jessica Sanders and Kristen Galbreath each had 12 points for the Highlanders and Teresa Russell had 10 rebounds. Weber and Sanders each had five assists.

Agoura fell to 2-8 in league play.

FOOTHILL

Hart 60, Saugus 22--Melissa Harrison had 22 points and 10 rebounds and Briana Kentfield had 12 points for host Hart (17-2, 6-0) against Saugus (5-11, 0-6).

Burroughs 58, Burbank 38--Chantel Jimenez and Leslie Perez each scored 15 points and JoAnna Garrick added 13 for host Burroughs (14-6, 4-2).

Valencia 53, Canyon 45--Janette Garcia came off the bench to score all 11 of her points in the second half, and also had eight rebounds and five steals for Canyon (10-12, 3-3). Keisha Kelso had 16 points for Valencia (15-6, 4-2).

MISSION

Harvard-Westlake 50, Louisville--Carisa Abbott made eight of eight free throws in the second quarter and nine of 10 in the game for the sixth-ranked Wolverines (18-4, 6-0) at Harvard-Westlake.

Abbott and Umelogo Udeze finished with a team-high 13 points for the Wolverines. Kari Crawley had 12 points, eight rebounds, nine assists and six steals for Louisville (13-4, 2-4).

Flintridge Sacred Heart 61, Chaminade 47--Danielle Dal Ponte had 12 of her 27 points in a 22-point first quarter and Diana Mangioglu grabbed 17 rebounds for Flintridge Sacred Heart (8-9, 2-4) at St. Francis High.

FRONTIER

Calabasas 60, Malibu 42--Stephanie Goldman made nine of 19 shot attempts en route to 21 points for the victorious Coyotes (9-8, 3-3) at Calabasas.

Goldman scored seven of her points in the second quarter, when the Coyotes outscored Malibu, 22-8.

Nordhoff 83, Santa Paula 41--Erin Barker had 24 points while Nell Becker scored 15, dished out 10 assists and made six steals for host Nordhoff (16-5, 5-1).

VALLEY PAC-8

Grant 79, Monroe 33--Nakeisha Perkins had 20 points, 14 rebounds and four steals, Leslie Mui had 17 points and 11 assists, and Angela Terry added 17 points, seven steals and five blocked shots for the Lancers (17-3, 6-0) at Monroe.

North Hollywood 93, Van Nuys 20--Two days after North Hollywood’s 51-game conference win streak was stopped by Grant, Angelle Hill (18 points), Richelle Sherman (17), Markia Derby (16), Tashean Thomas (11) and Seulgey Kim (10) scored in double figures for the Huskies (19-2, 5-1) against host Van Nuys (2-11, 1-5).

Reseda 65, Canoga Park 52--Ig Herrera scored eight of her 33 points in the fourth quarter and Reseda (6-9, 3-3) pulled away after Canoga Park had rallied from a 10-point deficit in the third period at Canoga Park.

NORTHWEST VALLEY

Taft 73, Kennedy 42--Quisha Melton scored 15 of her 20 points in the first half and Tynisha Howze had 16 points and 22 rebounds for the Toreadors (11-5, 5-1) at Taft.

El Camino Real 54, Chatsworth 44--Chrissy McClain scored 15 points and grabbed 14 rebounds and Cara Blumfield added 10 points for the Conquistadores (16-0, 6-0) at Chatsworth.

Patricia Nuno scored 26 points for Chatsworth.

Granada Hills 46, San Fernando 36--Kelly Patterson scored 19 points and grabbed 16 rebounds and Lindy Gayton added 11 points and 15 rebounds for host Granada Hills (11-4, 5-1).

Birmingham 52, Cleveland 46--Ofalangi Mailangi scored nine of her 13 points in the fourth quarter to help Birmingham (11-5, 4-2) pull away from visiting Cleveland.
