FBI Still Looking at Fulladosa

The criminal investigation of former Highland High girls’ soccer Coach Craig Fulladosa is ongoing, an FBI agent said Tuesday.

Fulladosa, a Highland teacher who coached the Bulldogs during the 1997-98 season, was placed on paid administrative leave from the school on April 30 in connection with his alleged involvement with Internet pornography.

A school computer used by Fulladosa and seized by Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies contained more than a dozen pornographic images.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Mike Becker of the department’s station in Lancaster said no charges were filed there against Fulladosa because none of the images could be proven to be of minors and no evidence was found indicating that Fulladosa had exposed students to the images.

The case has been referred to the FBI’s Sexual Assault and Felony Enforcement task force, which is examining the computer hard drive containing the images.

Doug Blaydes of the FBI said federal charges can be filed against an individual if that person downloads pornographic images of minors using a computer network that extends across state lines.

Blaydes confirmed the investigation of the computer’s hard drive is ongoing but declined comment.

David Vierra, assistant superintendent of the Antelope Valley Union School District, said that Fulladosa is now on unpaid leave. Vierra declined further comment and Fulladosa could not be reached for comment.

FOOTBALL

Former Westlake wide receiver Joey Cuppari was released Monday from Los Robles Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks after undergoing an emergency appendectomy on Friday.

The surgery will force Cuppari, who is bound for Colorado State, to miss the Shrine All-Star Classic.

Chad Troxler, a recent graduate of Simi Valley, has signed to play at Hawaii, Simi Valley Athletic Director Roger McCamy said.

Troxler, 6 feet 1 and 285 pounds, passed the SAT in the spring but was not eligible to sign with a college until he passed several required core classes.

FENCING

Chaminade sophomore Derek Snyder won the gold medal in the under-14 foil competition at the U.S. Fencing Assn. Summer National Championships on Tuesday in Austin, Texas.

Recent Chaminade graduate Juan Capdet finished 16th in the Division II men’s epee.
