A 42-year-old man accused of shooting another man to death outside an industrial complex Monday night was arrested Tuesday night on suspicion of murder, authorities said.

Colrinto Raina Lopez was arrested about 8 p.m. and was being held in Van Nuys Jail, Los Angeles Police Lt. Kirk Wilder said.

Lopez is accused of shooting Bruce Collins, 37, of Simi Valley.

Collins was shot twice in the stomach about 9:30 p.m. Monday and died at 2:30 a.m. at Northridge Hospital Medical Center, said Sgt. Arthur Reyna, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department.

Devonshire Division police officers were called to 19025 Parthenia St. after receiving a report of shots fired. Collins was lying in the street in front of storage unit No. 115 when officers arrived, police said. It was not immediately clear whether the victim worked in a small auto-body shop there or rented storage space.

“I heard some arguing, then I heard two shots,” said Terry Hogan, who owns a neighboring space within the storage complex.

Hogan said he ran to the other side of the complex, where he heard the man screaming, “I’ve been shot! I’ve been shot!” as paramedics loaded him into the ambulance.

A motive for the shooting remained under investigation, Police Det. Marshall White said.
