Dominguez Pushes Past Redondo

Share

Tayshaun Prince scored 22 points and Compton Dominguez used a high-pressure defense to win its fourth consecutive Southern Section Division II-A championship with an 80-69 decision over Redondo Union Saturday at the Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim.

Dominguez turned a 33-29 halftime deficit into a 55-43 lead at the end of the third quarter with a suffocating defensive scheme that resulted in steals, Redondo turnovers and hurried shots by the Sea Hawks in the first three minutes after the break.

Prince sparked an 11-0 run to start the second half by scoring off an offensive rebound and capping it with a four-point play, after being fouled while hitting a three-pointer.
