In the Brea Olinda softball tournament:

Diamond Bar 4, Brea Olinda 0--Diamond Bar built a four-run lead after the second inning and went on to win the championship game. Brea Olinda falls to 3-2.

Esperanza 2, Lakewood St. Joseph’s 0--Jamie Van Kleesbeak allowed two hits and struck out seven as the Aztecs (4-1) defeated St. Joseph’s (2-3) in the fifth-place game. Melissa Fox had a run-scoring triple to key the Esperanza attack.

In the Covina Western Christian softball tournament:

Whittier Christian 1, St. Margaret’s 0 (8)--Whittier Christian’s Celina Camarillo (2-0) struck out 10 and walked three in the championship game. The Heralds (3-0) scored an unearned run in the eighth off St. Margaret’s starter Amber Arnold (2-1), who struck out 16. Melissa Valdez singled with two out to drive in the winning run. The Tartans fall to 5-1.

In the Cypress softball tournament:

Lakewood Mayfair 1, Ocean View 0--Haley Larson pitched a three-hit shutout for Mayfair in the championship game. Jamie Wilson took the loss for Ocean View (3-2).

In nonleague softball:

Foothill 0-3, Fresno Clovis 1-0--Lauren Schwendimann (1-0) pitched a no-hitter and struck out 12 as Foothill (3-1) defeated the defending Central Section champion in the second game. Sarah Boardman had two hits and an RBI in the second game and Courtney Fossatti had three hits on the day.

Woodbridge 1-2, Marina 0-1 (1st game, 13)--Britany Ziegler squeezed home Natasha Watley with the winning run in the top of the 13th for Woodbridge (6-0). Christy Robitaille struck out 16 and went the distance for the shutout.

In the second game, Watley had three hits and Ziegler had two more for Woodbridge (7-0). Marina fell to 0-2.

In nonleague boys’ tennis:

Corona del Mar 13, Santa Barbara 5--Corona del Mar’s Parker Collins swept in singles, 6-4, 6-0, 6-0. Brian Morton also swept, 6-1, 6-4, 7-5, for the Sea Kings (3-0).

In the Brea Olinda Rotary Relays:

Santa Margarita edges Marina--The Santa Margarita girls’ track and field team edged Marina by five points to win the team title. Amanda Shanklin finished first in the 100 hurdles with a time of 15.4 for the Eagles. Santa Margarita also won the 800-meter relay (1:49.4) and 1,600-meter relay (4:10.93) events.

Brea Olinda won the boys’ competition by 43 points over Santa Margarita. The Wildcats took first in three relay events and had the best high jump and discus combined team marks.

In the Irvine Invitational boys’ track and field meet:

Tustin dominates running events--Tustin took first after winning the 100, 400 and 400-meter relay events, and finishing among the top three in the 200, 1,600 and 3,200 meters. DeShaun Foster won the 100 in 11.15 and Julius Williams finished first in the 400 (51.08) and second in the 200 (22.67).

Mission Viejo’s Mark Gleason (1,600, 3,200) and Esperanza’s Justin Birrell (shotput, discus) won two events each.

In the Irvine Invitational girls’ track and field meet:

Stone, Moore lead Woodbridge--Meryl Stone and Mary Moore won two events each to lead Woodbridge to the team championship over Mission Viejo. Stone finished first in the 100 (12.74) and 200 (26.34), and Moore won the 1,600 (5:17.19) and 3,200 (11:25.12).

The Warriors also finished first in the 400-meter relay (50.58) and 1,600-meter relay (4:09.9). Trabuco Hills’ Suzanne Linn was the other double winner, placing first in the shotput (41-0) and discus (128-9).

At the Long Beach Millikan Invitational:

Katella girl’s sweep 5,000--Jill Santibanez won the 5,000 meters in 19:04.7 to lead Katella. Teammates Jonalyn Smith (19:31.6) and Cristal Hernandez (20:25.1) finished second and third in the same event.

Jose Herrera of Loara set a meet record in the boys’ 3,000 with a time of 8:56.1. Herrera also finished fourth in the 1,500 (4:10.4).
