Poly Coach Defaults His Doubles Team for Bad Behavior

Share

A point away from victory, the No. 1 doubles team on the Poly High boys’ tennis team was defaulted for unsportsmanlike conduct by Parrot Coach Jason Klinger on Thursday.

Sherman Oaks CES won the Valley Pac-8 Conference match, 4-3, at Poly.

Quan Tran and Patrick Unataran led 5-2 in games in the third set and 40-30 against Angel Gatehalian and Paul Pantapaiangkorr when Tran became frustrated and slammed his racket to the ground and broke it, according to Klinger.

“I didn’t know what the score was,” Klinger said. “Had I known the score, I might have hesitated but I still would have defaulted them.”
