Double-Duty Rasmussen Helps Moorpark Win

Wes Rasmussen helped pitch and bat Moorpark High baseball team to an 11-8 victory over St. Bonaventure on Thursday at St. Bonaventure.

Rasmussen (2-0) had four hits, drove in four runs and pitched two innings of relief. His two-run home run in the fifth inning ignited a four-run rally that pulled Moorpark even, 5-5.

Taylor Slimak had three hits and two runs batted in for Moorpark (3-3).

L.A. Baptist 15, Vasquez 2--Tim Feirfeil (2-0) struck out seven and walked one, and hit a two-run home run during a 13-run second inning for the Knights (5-1) in the L.A. Baptist tournament.

El Camino Real 12, Granada Hills 2--Kurt Birkins had three hits and two RBIs, including a solo home run, for the Conquistadores (3-4, 2-0) in a Northwest Valley Conference victory at Granada Hills.

Johnny Koegel (2-0) gave up three hits and one earned run while striking out seven over six innings.

San Fernando 5, Birmingham 3--Francisco Enriquez and Jesus Munoz each had two hits for the Tigers (3-3, 2-0) in a Northwest Valley Conference victory at Birmingham.

Chatsworth 8, Cleveland 2--Mike Kunes (3-0) pitched a five-hitter and struck out five for Chatsworth (7-0, 2-0) in a Northwest Valley Conference game at Cleveland.

Tom Morefield had two hits and three RBIs and Danny Eisenberg had two hits and two RBIs for Chatsworth.

Charley Santillan had two hits and an RBI for Cleveland (3-2, 0-2).

Campbell Hall 17, Salesian 6--Steve Kim was four for four and drove in four runs to help the Vikings (5-1) win at Whittier Narrows Park.

Kim had a two-run double to highlight a five-run second inning for Campbell Hall.

Junior right-hander Brett Comden (2-0) allowed two earned runs and struck out three in five innings for Campbell Hall.

Viewpoint 22, L.A. Lutheran 8--Chaney Sheffield hit three home runs and had eight RBIs for the Patriots (3-1) in a victory at L.A. Lutheran.

Sheffield hit a three-run home run in the first inning, a two-run shot in the fifth and a three-run home run in the sixth.

Crossroads 13, Harvard-Westlake 5--The Roadrunners parlayed five hits and eight errors into a victory at Crossroads.

Roshon Parker had three hits for Crossroads, including two home runs. Parker had a two-run home run in the third inning, a leadoff home run in the fifth and a run-scoring single in the first.

Sophomore Matt Thayer had three hits and scored two runs for Harvard-Westlake (2-4).

Thayer has 13 hits in 17 at-bats this season.

John Neyer had a two-run double in the third inning, and Matt Felder had a run-scoring double in the fifth for Harvard-Westlake.

Chris Santos (1-2) allowed only one earned run in four innings but took the loss.

Highland 14, Grant 5--Brandon Golphenee had a double, single and four RBIs, and Travis Hodge added a double, single and three RBIs for the Bulldogs (4-2) in a San Fernando Valley Invitational game at Grant.

Jon Anello had two hits, including a double, and two RBIs for Highland.

Monroe 4, Calabasas 3--John Ennis singled home John Mort in the bottom of the fifth inning to snap a 3-3 tie for the Vikings (4-2-1) in a San Fernando Valley Invitational game at Monroe.

Mort had three hits, including a double and a triple, and Adam Kaplan also had three hits for Monroe.
