Orange Coast won the Orange Empire Conference women’s golf title Monday, showing the same consistency the Pirates used to finish first in four previous conference tournaments.

Four OCC golfers finished among the top eight and shot 351 on the par-72 Oak Valley course in Beaumont. Jennifer Tunzi had 84 and finished fourth, Jan Cheng had 87 to finish fifth, Maricela Dietrick shot 88 to tie for sixth. Robin Shaft shot 92 and finished eighth for the Pirates.

Saddleback, led by event medalist Selby Schriber’s 76, finished second at 367. Fullerton (377) was third, Irvine Valley (394) fourth and defending state champion Cypress (399) was fifth.

Soccer: The Fullerton men’s team enters the week with a chance to earn a playoff spot, but the news isn’t nearly as upbeat for the women’s program.

Fullerton Coach Mike Cramer and Athletic Director Sue Beers met Monday and decided to forfeit the final two women’s games because of a lack of players. Fullerton, which will finish 6-12-1, 2-9-1, has 11 players on the roster but three are doubtful because of injuries.

The men’s team has a bye today but is tied with Irvine Valley for second place in the Orange Empire Conference. Each team is 7-2-1 in conference play and trails first-place Santa Ana (7-0-2).

Irvine Valley plays host to Riverside today, then ends the regular season Friday at Fullerton. Fullerton ends the regular season Nov. 10 at Cypress.
