A woman kidnapped in San Francisco three days ago was found wandering in a Laguna Beach park Thursday, distraught and disoriented after being bound with duct tape and held in the trunk of her car, police said.

Authorities were searching late Thursday for two men and a woman believed to have kidnapped the 58-year-old woman Tuesday morning as she arrived at work. The woman’s name was being withheld pending further investigation, Laguna Beach Police spokesman Darin Lenyi said.

“At this point we don’t know what we have,” Lenyi said.

During the woman’s ordeal, he said, she was bound in the rear seat and trunk of her car, as well as one other location. Because her face was covered by towels, she was unable to provide detailed descriptions of the kidnappers, he said.

About 6:45 p.m. Thursday, Lenyi said, the kidnappers left the woman bound to a bench in Heisler Park and drove off in the car, described as a 1990 gray Honda Civic with California license plate 2TZP541.

Eventually the woman was able to free herself from the duct tape and was wandering in the park when she was spotted by a passerby, who called police.

Lenyi said the woman was taken to a hospital for observation but had no apparent physical injuries. Relatives from San Francisco were on their way to Laguna Beach to escort her home, he said.
