Craig Calloway, a point guard from Long Beach Jordan High, has signed a letter of intent with Cal State Northridge.
The 6-foot-1 Calloway averaged 14 points, five rebounds and four assists per game last season. This season will mark his fourth as a varsity starter.
Coach Bobby Braswell of Northridge rates Calloway on par with several talented point guards he has coached--Adonis Jordan and Tim Bowen at Cleveland High, Kenya Wilkins at Oregon and Tyrone Mitchell at Long Beach State.
“Craig fits into that category,” Braswell said.
In other Northridge signings, the women’s tennis team has received letters of intent from Jamie Macias of Chatsworth High and Katie Fitzgerald of Righetti High in Santa Maria, and the women’s swimming team signed California athletes Katie Cartmell of Dublin, Lisa Cristol of Monte Sereno in Los Gatos amd Megan Henry of Woodcreek in Roseville.
Coach James Park of Cal Lutheran has been named the American Volleyball Coaches Assn. Division III West Region coach of the year.
Park guided Cal Lutheran to a 20-2 record and its fourth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Division III playoffs.
