9-Year-Old Girl Reports Attempted Abduction
Police are seeking a man who reportedly approached a 9-year-old Thousand Oaks girl as she walked home from school and asked her to get into his car, authorities said Saturday.
The incident occurred about 3 p.m. Friday at Park View Drive and Avenida de los Arboles near Lang Ranch Elementary School, said Sgt. Will Hammer of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department.
“A male drove up in a car, opened his door and asked a little girl to get in and she ran,” Hammer said.
The man was described only as a white male about 25, with a mustache. He was driving a dark convertible.
Hammer said the girl ran home and told her mother, who called deputies. There were no other children in the area, and Hammer said he was unaware of any other similar reports.
The case is being handled as an attempted kidnapping, Hammer said.
