Matt Leeth caught seven passes for 158 yards and three touchdowns for St. Bonaventure High in a 35-7 victory over Santa Ana Calvary Chapel Saturday night in a first round Southern Section Division XI playoff game at Ventura High.

Leeth’s scoring receptions from quarterback Chris Lombardo were for eight, 16, and 64 yards for the Seraphs (8-3).

“They did lots of blitzing, but we just got past it and made big plays happen,” said Leeth, who played a little over half the game before Coach Jon Mack pulled some of his starters with the Seraphs leading, 35-0.

St. Bonaventure outgained the Eagles (4-5-1), 402-85, and will play at St. Monica in Santa Monica next week.

“This team is getting better and better,” Mack said.

“We worked real hard in getting ready for this game.”

Jesse Kirk rushed for 110 yards in 10 carries for the Seraphs. Kirk had a 46-yard touchdown run for an 18-0 lead late in the second quarter, but Kirk sprained his left ankle on a failed two-point conversion run after the touchdown and sat out the remainder of the game.

Kirk was replaced by Donald Pinedo, who carried seven times for 45 yards.

Lombardo completed 13 of 24 passes for 245 yards, including the three touchdowns to Leeth.

Lombardo also kicked a 20-yard field goal midway through the third quarter to give the Seraphs a 35-0 lead.

Defensive lineman Nathan Oseguera gave the Seraphs a 32-0 lead when he returned a fumble by quarterback Conan Williams of Santa Ana 24 yards for a touchdown with 1:13 remaining in the first half.

The Eagles’ lone touchdown came with 30 seconds remaining in the game on a four-yard run by Josh Short.

Kevin Short had 40 yards in 13 carries for Calvary Chapel, and had two pass receptions for 15 yards.
