Banning 29, Sylmar 0--Banning, which has allowed only one touchdown in its last three games, outgained the Spartans, 409-160, en route to the victory at Sylmar.

Banning running back Chris Howard gained 204 yards and scored two touchdowns in 25 carries, including a 78-yarder with 4:54 left to play that capped the scoring.

Banning wide receiver Mike Cockrell had four catches for 109 yards and a touchdown for the Pilots (9-3), who led 19-0 at halftime.

Mike Bresnahan previously covered the Lakers for the Los Angeles Times.
