The new Borders Books & Music store at Northridge Fashion Center, 9301 Tampa Ave., is starting a Pajamarama story time for kids 4 to 6 at 7 p.m. Fridays. Today is the first day. Kids are invited to wear their PJs. The store also has a story time at 10 a.m. Saturdays and one for preschoolers at 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays.

Author Tony Johnston will read her latest book, “Bigfoot Cinderrrrrella,” for children 4 and older and their parents at 10 a.m. Thursday at Pages, 18399 Ventura Blvd., Tarzana. An adaptation of the classic fairy tale, “Bigfoot Cinderrrrrella” features a clumsy, smelly, hairy, strong Bigfoot heroine who wins her Bigfoot prince’s affection with her log-rolling abilities. The Kindness of Strangers coffeehouse, 4378 Lankershim Blvd., North Hollywood, hosts several writing groups each week. A sitcom writing group meets 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays, and a playwriting and feature film writing group meets 6 to 9 p.m. Sundays. Cost varies. (818) 752-9566.
