Northridge 1, Santa Clara 0--The Matadors (4-4) earned their biggest win of the season when they upset No. 18 Santa Clara University (6-2-1) in the Santa Clara tournament.

BOYS’ CROSS-COUNTRY

Tri-Valley League Meet No. 1--Oak Park, paced by winner Mark Nevers, had five of the top eight finishers to win at Oak Canyon Park.

Nevers, a sophomore, clocked 16:10 over the three-mile course to help the Eagles total 26 points.

Fillmore was second with 38 points, followed by Carpinteria with 70 and St. Bonaventure with 113.

Junior Erik Wackenstedt placed fourth in 16:55 for Oak Park, sophomore Ben Faxey was sixth in 17:04, junior Mike Baclacian seventh in 17:09 and sophomore Clark Reinking eighth in 17:12.

GIRLS’ CROSS-COUNTRY

Tri-Valley League Meet No. 1--Sophomore Suzanne Purmort of La Reina finished first in 20:16 and St. Bonaventure won the team title with 42 points at Oak Canyon Park.

Junior Lacey Williams of St. Bonaventure clocked 20:58 over the three-mile course to finish fifth, with senior Caren Joran sixth at 21:03 and sophomore Stephanie Hass seventh at 21:07 for the Seraphs.

Louisville 16, Alemany 72--Senior Kim Utterson led Louisville to a sweep of the first four places in the Mission League meet at Malibu Creek State Park.

Utterson clocked 21:24 over the three-mile course for the Royals (3-0, 2-0), the No.3-ranked team in the state Division IV poll.

Foothill League Meet No. 1--Senior Lauren Fleshman finished first and freshman Barrie Truex placed third to lead Canyon to victory at College of the Canyons.

The victory was the fourth of the season without a loss for Fleshman, the runner-up in the West region and state Division I championships last year.

GIRLS’ TENNIS

Calabasas 9, Camarillo 9--Shervin Saedinia swept her singles matches, and Vanessa Everly and Andrea Leewong went 3-0 in doubles , to help the Coyotes (6-0) win a nonleague match on games, 65-63, at Camarillo.

Saedinia won her matches, 6-0, 6-1 and 6-0.

Everly and Leewong were victorious, 6-1, 6-0 and 6-1.

Simi Valley 11, Newbury Park 7--Courtney Lind had the only singles victories for the Pioneers 6-1, 6-1, 6-2, in a Marmonte League victory at Rancho Simi Community Park.

Mindy Gondrez, No. 1 player for Simi Valley (6-0, 3-0) was held out by Coach Rob Wickwire, who was looking ahead to Simi Valley’s nonleague match against Santa Barbara on Friday.

The No. 2 doubles team of Rebecca Hunau and Stella Chu led a doubles sweep, dropping only one game in their three sets.

Newbury Park is 4-5, 0-3.

Chaminade 9, Louisville 9--Mahsa Merat swept at No. 3 singles for visiting Chaminade (4-2, 4-0), which captured the Mission League match at Calabasas Tennis & Swim Club on games, 82-72.
