No Damage, Injuries From 4.5 Quake
A magnitude 4.5 earthquake struck early Wednesday 13 miles southwest of Portola in Northern California’s Butte County, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
No damage or injuries were reported in the 1:31 a.m. temblor.
Geological Survey seismologist David Oppenheimer said a similar 4.5 quake occurred Feb. 17 10 miles northeast of Wednesday’s quake. He said there is a band of seismicity running through the region from Lake Tahoe to Lake Almanor in the northern Sierra Nevada mountains.
